In an unusual move for what’s been an unusual takeover bid for Twitter by the world’s richest man, Tesla CEO Elon Musk addressed the social platform’s employees Thursday, even though his $44 billion offer has not yet been completed

"Trust is as trust does. I tend to be extremely literal in what I say...One does not (need) to read between the lines. One can simply read the lines,” Musk said in the meeting, according to a tweet from Nola Weinstein, Twitter's global head of brand experiences and engagement.

The world's richest man - alongside Tesla and SpaceX, the companies he is CEO of - are accused of "promoting Dogecoin to profit from its trading".

Elon Musk is being sued for $258bn (£209bn) over accusations he ran a pyramid scheme to promote a cryptocurrency called Dogecoin.

The digital asset was launched as a joke in 2013 and was designed to mock Bitcoin.

But the cryptocurrency - also known as DOGE - hit the headlines after surging dramatically last year.

In a little over four months, Dogecoin rallied from $0.004 to $0.73 - a gain of more than 18,000%.

Dogecoin has fallen dramatically over the past year - and at the time of writing, it has fallen 92% from the record high seen last May.

The world's richest man - alongside Tesla and SpaceX, the companies he is CEO of - are accused of "promoting Dogecoin to profit from its trading".

A complaint filed in a New York court adds: "Musk used his pedestal as the world's richest man to operate and manipulate the Dogecoin pyramid scheme for profit, exposure and amusement."

The billionaire said the bias should be "strongly towards working in person, but if somebody is exceptional, then remote work can be okay".

Elon Musk has addressed Twitter staff for the first time and outlined new details of his vision for the company, including plans to allow some staff to work from home.

Despite previously telling Tesla employees to leave the company if they do not want to spend 40 hours a week in the office, the billionaire told Twitter employees he was willing to make some exceptions.

He said the bias should be "strongly towards working in person, but if somebody is exceptional, then remote work can be okay".

Twitter staff currently have relatively free reign to decide where they work and took to Slack to ask Musk about his views during a wide-ranging question-and-answer session moderated by a company executive.
